Amos is the oldest municipality in Abitibi. More than 12,000 years ago, the passage of glaciers left eskers that give today pristine water to the municipality, which is considered like the paradise of fresh water. It is possible to visit the municipal well and the Maison du tourisme de la region de l'Harricana, which presents an exhibition on the history of the aqueduct system development.
When you are in Amos, take the time to enter the romano-byzantine style Sainte-Thérèse-d'Avila cathedral. Its Italian marble and its French windows will impress more than one visitor.
