Named by Jacques Cartier in 1535, Isle-aux-Coudres is circled by a 15-mile-long road on which you can bike to discover all the attractions the island offers. Interpretation panels explaining the different natural and cultural aspects of the island are installed here and there along the road, allowing you to learn more about this water-surrounded piece of land. On the chemin des Coudriers, you will find the Musée Les Voitures d'Eau, where the Mont-Saint-Louis schooner is shown, and you can visit it. The Observation and interpretation center will then lead you to a trail that ends at the footstep of a tower from where you have a breathtaking view of the island and its surroundings. Then go to the Moulins de l'Isle-aux-Coudres, Flour Milling Economuseum, a unique site in Quebec that houses a water mill and windmill that are both still functioning. You will also find a building that formerly served as a forge as well as the miller's house. There too, you can buy wheat and buckwheat flour and you can even visit a traditional bread oven. The miller and the guides will explain in detail the history and the works of the mills during your visit. Also, don't miss the Cidrerie et Verger Pedneault, which makes strong cider, ice cider, ice vin de liqueur, light cider, aperitif cider and plum vin de liqueur, a unique product in Quebec. It is also possible to taste apple, pear, plum and cherry by-products.
