Aroostook County region is located on the Northeast side of Maine where it is bordered in the North by two Canadian provinces, Quebec and New Brunswick. It is also the largest region in the State.

This area is famous for its diversified activities and events. You find activities for each season such as canoe and fishing in one of the area's 2 000 lakes and rivers, hiking excursion, cross-country skiing and snowmobile, also museums where many exhibits take place.

A diary of the events being held in the area of Aroostook County for the year 2005:

• U.S. World Jr. Biathlon Trials
  The best juniors in the world confront each others in biathlon trials. In the city of Presque Isle from February 3 to 6.
• City-Wide Yard Sale
  A treasure hunt where more than 150 people take part. In the city of Caribou May 21 and 22.
• The Acadian Festival: Dionne Family Reunion
  The greatest Acadian cultural festival where each year, an Acadian pioneer family is honoured. This year, the Dionne family will be honoured. In the city of Madawaska from June 23 to 26.
• 4th of July Events
  One week filled of activities such as bingo, duck race, parade, games and fireworks. In the city of Limestone from June 27 to July 4.
• Caribou Cares About Kids / CaribouFest
  Fun for four consecutive days with this program: parade, games, music, concerts, foot and bike races and much more. In the city of Caribou from July 7 to 10.
• Maine Potato Blossom Festival
  At program: mashed potato wrestling, concerts, parade and the election of the festival king and queen. In the city of Fort Fairfield from July 13 to 21.
• Oktoberfest
  During these days, you will be able to take part in a pumpkin decoration contest, apple pie baking contest, bingo, puppet theatres, dance, karaoke and a well of others. In the city of Limestone from October 13 to 16.
