This municipality was officially founded in&nbsp 1902, but well before that date, settlers were already cultivating the land and exploiting the forest. It is thanks to Louis Beaulieu dit Montpellier that the village was created. In fact, in&nbsp 1892, he decided to open a post office and a general store to answer the needs of the inhabitants living on the territory. Nowadays, the municipality of Montpellier is the entryway to the réserve faunique Papineau-Labelle, where you can do all kinds of activities. In this town, you will also find numerous lakes, a golf course as well as major cultural events.
