It's in  1667 that Dorval was created under the name of Gentilly, by the priests of the Society of Saint-Sulpice. They came here to evangelize Aboriginals living in the West Island and created this town. Before becoming Dorval officially in  1903, the city was also called la Présentation de la Vierge Marie. In January  2002, like most of the cities on the Montréal Island, Dorval merged with the new large city of Montréal, but was re-formed in  2006.
Thanks to the arrival of the railroad, Dorval went through a boom. From its some  10,000  inhabitants at the beginning of the 19th century, the city quickly went to more than  18,000. They were mainly rich and English-speaking families who established here, looking for a fresh place where to spend their summers. Nowadays, the city is home to a few industrial parks, of course the Pierre-Elliott-Trudeau International Airport, as well as many companies. For your pleasure, you can visit one of the three aquatic centres where pools and water games await you. The Musée d'histoire et du patrimoine de Dorval is also very interesting to visit. Younger ones will enjoy the skate parks, and several churches of different denominations can also be visited.
