Centre du Quebec Tourist Region

The "Centre du Québec" region is located half-way between Québec City and Montréal, on the south shore of the St. Lawrence River, and has a population near 220,000 inhabitants. The region is easily accessible via highways 20 and 55 and other roads. This magnificent region is delimited by the St. Lawrence River and here, mountains, forest, particularly maple forests, and water form a majestic combination. The Laviolette Bridge links up this region with the Mauricie region.

Life-size "Centre du Québec"

The region offers a wealth of green spaces. More than 20 outfitter's locations and many sugar shacks are scattered over the territory. Fans of the great outdoors can rely on a solid recreational-tourism infrastructure. A 60 km bicycle trail links the towns of Warwick, Victoriaville, Princeville, Sainte-Julie and Lyster and is used as a snowmobile trail during winter. Fishing, golfing, skiing, skating and camping are all sports that one can enjoy in this great region.

Several illustrious people originate from the "Coeur-du-Québec" Region:

Wilfrid Laurier, Prime Minister of Canada. A museum relates his life in the Victoriaville Region.

Suzor Coté, whose paintings can be admired in the "Hôtel des Postes" Pavillion in Victoriaville.

Brother Marie-Victorin, renowned botanist. The Marie-Victorin Park at Kingsey Falls was named after him.

Alfred Laliberté, sculptor. The plessisville "Parc de la Rivière Bourbon Passageway" was named in his honour.

Cultural life

The cultural life aspect plays an important role in the "Coeur-du-Quebec" region Several museums relate the region's history. Summer theaters successfully entertain both visitors and locals. Hotels, motels, Inns, Camping-grounds and B&B's offer a vast array of packages ( Golf Packages, Health Centers Packages,...) and accommodations to please one and all. Just the numerous Festivals scattered over the region are worth the detour.
