Chateau Bonne Entente - Québec (Sainte-Foy)

The Château Bonne Entente is a unique upscale urban resort.
A brand new concept inspired by Californian cuisine the Napa Grill·Spa·Terrasse offers exquisite flavour under an open-sky
as well as the renowned Amerispa health centre and two outside Jacuzzis open year-round. Guests will be able to enjoy the fare of Monte Cristo, a golden opportunity you won’t want to miss, and to savour the many facets of this new sensual Mediterranean cuisine !

History of Château Bonne Entente

The first building on this 120 acre site, a small white house, was built by Paul Bédard back in the early 1920s. Unfortunately, his several personal problems led him to jump off the Quebec Bridge.

The domain was then purchased by the eccentric Dr. Jack Shea, who loved cats so much that he built a cat cemetery behind the house so they could have a first class funeral!

The next owner, Colonel Charles Hugh le Pailleur Jones, tore down the existing buildings and had a spacious residence and several outbuildings built on the site.

In 1950, his son, Mowbray, decided to turn the Domaine Bonne Entente into an inn. At the time, there were eight rooms and two dining rooms. Enlarged in 1953, the inn was renamed Château Bonne Entente.

How did the Château get its name ? Bonne Entente was the cheerful greeting Colonel Jones always had for friends and neighbors.

As a result of the $10-million renovation project completed in 2002, the Château Bonne Entente is fully- equipped with modern amenities, however, the tiny establishment retains its country manor-style reminiscent of a gone-by era to further preserve its status as the most prestigious urban resort hotel in Quebec City.

All of the hotel rooms and reception areas have been renovated. Magnificent gardens have been landscaped around the new Napa grill-spa-terrace restaurant. The inspiration for the Napa gardens originates from Santa Barbara: sun, pool and grill.

The final phase of renovations concluded with the opening of Le Monte Cristo (formerly Le Pailleur), this new concept of sensual dining offers the pleasure of a delectable dining experience
