Yucatán area
Southernmost country of North America, Mexico means sun, beaches, and warmth, but also a nation rich in history and discoveries.
Conquered in 1514 by the Spaniards, but still rich in many Native American cultures dating from before Christ, Mexico has become, over the past 20 years, a commercial partner with Canada and the United States.
Considered for a long time as a refugee for pirates, the Yucatan peninsula, located between the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea, is full of fascinating stories as well as archaeological mysteries. In this area, also known under the name of "Caribbean Pearl", are found more than 50 000 archaeological sites that preserve the Maya civilisations' memories.
